The Service in the UK Condolences Back to Memorial/Tributes Justice Forum: In Pursuit of Jeema 14th August 2000 The Widow and family of the Late Charles Owor, Gulu Dear Bereaved Family, Message Of Condolence We heard the news of the untimely death of the late Charles Owor, in a motor accident in Kenya with great sorrow. The late Charles Owor, was a man of principal and rare commitment to our nation - Uganda. I remember vividly the just role he played as member of the Interim Electoral Commission, which organised the presidential election in 1996, in which I was one of the three contending candidates. Charles Owor played a unique role in ensuring a level playing field for all presidential candidates despite the heavy pressure to make the race favour certain candidate. The elections were massively ridged by the incumbent candidate and Charles Owor was always haunted by this unjust act until he decided, less than a year ago, to tell the truth of how the election were ridged to the whole world. Indeed Charles Owor has been a symbol of Democracy and Justice in Uganda. On behalf of the Justice Forum - JEEMA, and on my own behalf, I would like to send this message to the widow and the family, friends and in-laws and all just loving Ugandans for the loss of such a personality of rare uprightness and honour. Due to unavoidable circumstances, I have been unable to come and attend the burial in person, so I have sent Mr. Alex Ojok the Vice President of the Justice Forum to represent me.
